SASSA Identity Verification and eKYC Help

Read the exact identity or verification message on your SRD application before choosing a correction route. A name mismatch, an eKYC request and a phone-access problem are different tasks.

Quick answer: Use SASSA’s official applicant services and eKYC options as instructed for your application. Check names against your identity document; do not send identity photos or PINs to an unofficial agent.

Choose the right identity task

Start with the exact message shown in the official service.

A

Name or surname mismatch

Follow the official name-correction route and use matching identity details.

B

eKYC requested

Use the official identity verification service and its displayed instructions.

C

Message cannot arrive

Resolve access to the registered phone number through the official contact process.

These tasks are different. Do not repeat unrelated updates to try to clear a verification message.

Which identity-verification route should I use?

The official eKYC page lists different options, including status and reverification. Select the option relevant to the instruction you received. The existence of an option does not mean every applicant needs to complete it.

My name or surname does not match

Compare the details supplied to SASSA with the names on your identity document. Use the name/surname update option linked from official applicant services if appropriate. If the government identity record itself needs correction, ask the responsible department for its procedure.

I cannot receive the verification message

Check the registered cellphone number and SIM access. Follow phone and OTP recovery guidance if access is missing. Do not use someone else’s PIN or treat another channel as a bypass.

What if the service cannot complete verification?

Keep the exact error or instruction and contact SASSA on 0800 60 10 11. Do not repeatedly submit unrelated account changes or pay someone claiming to clear a verification flag.

What can I prepare before asking for help?

  • The affected month and exact message.
  • The official service you tried.
  • Whether your supplied names match your document.
  • Whether your registered phone remains accessible.

Keep identity documents and private numbers out of public comments. Supply sensitive information only through the appropriate official channel.

Match the message to the record that needs attention

Message or problemWhat to establish first
Name or surname mismatchCompare the submitted spelling with your identity document. Establish whether the application details or the underlying identity record need attention.
Verification requestedOpen the route linked by the official service and follow the instruction for your record. The availability of a service does not mean every applicant needs it.
Verification message cannot reach youCheck access to the registered cellphone number. Contact recovery and name correction are different tasks.
Page or loading errorRecord the wording and the page where it appeared. A technical error alone does not establish that identity verification failed.

Prepare a useful support request

State the affected month, the exact message and the task you were trying to complete. Explain whether your registered SIM remains accessible and whether the details supplied match your document. This helps distinguish an account-access issue from a record mismatch.

Do not send identity photos, OTPs or full application records to this website. Provide sensitive documents only when the appropriate official channel requests them. If you are helping someone else, keep their private information out of public comments and screenshots.

Frequently asked questions

Should I change my phone number to correct a name mismatch?

An unrelated contact change does not establish or correct the cause of a name mismatch. Compare the relevant records and follow the correction route for the actual error.

Does an eKYC option mean every applicant must use it?

No. Follow the instruction associated with your application. The availability of a service does not establish that it applies to everyone.

What should I keep when verification fails?

Keep the exact error, the official page where it appeared, the affected month and the task you were attempting. Share private identity information only through the appropriate official channel.

Can a technical error prove that my identity was rejected?

No. A loading error and an identity decision are different information. Read the actual result or instruction for your record.

Can I send an identity photo to this website for verification?

No. This website cannot verify your identity or alter the government record. Use the official service requested for your application.
